KPTV, the Fox television affiliate in Portland, Oregon, reported on Tuesday on a man who says his 12-year-old son was able to borrow mature manga titles from a Multnomah County Library, even though they were shelved in the adult section. Rozz Rezabek said he discovered the manga in his son's room, and he noted the books were listed on the covers as ( Read more... )

Hmmm...likewise, I am suddenly smitten by a desire to read those two titles.

Especially Battle Vixens.

Something about that title...

Battle... VIXENS... (drool...)

Check out the journal entry again. I posted images of the covers. I also know Battle Vixens by the title Ikki Tousen. I saw 4 or 5 episodes of it awhile back. It was ok, but not nothing terrific. They are both by the same author so it's no wonder they both appealed to me in manga form.

Oh yeah, I know Ikki Tousen. Like you, saw the fansub awhile back. Sigh, now despite clevage & panty covers, feel interest level...dropping... ^o^

Personally I think his son is a normal 12 year old. These books are probably far less adult material than the playboys Mr. Rezabek hides in his sock drawer! :)

I hate how easily people want to sue these days. Its like they all want something free!

Pacific Northwest libraries have been successful and defending the unlimited access clause in the ALA mission statement. When animemojo and I lived in Washington State, a very small town named Deming took on Homeland Security over their mission statement and their patrons First Amendment rights and won a huge case.

I'm so sick of people like Mr. Rezabek.

"Waaaaa! Someone else isn't looking after my kid when I should be doing it myself! Waaaaaaa!"

While I believe the library should reasonably restrict porn access on their computers (and there's no mystery about what that means exactly), restricting adult literary content from minors is not their job.
