I'd like to sign up, but can we please avoid the cliched series we see over and over? There is enough Naruto, Sailormoon and Eva icons to last a life time. Weird hardly ever seen anime would be so much more fun!

Oh, don't worry about it. I...don't even watch the 3 series you've mentioned. I mean, most likely there'll probably end up being a challenge on Naruto (Unless none of my mods watch Naruto, in which, you're in luck :P), but otherwise, we're all about coming up with more obscure series :).

...For a starters, I'm thinking of making the first challenge of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, if that's not somewhat obscure enough already.

But, any suggestions?

I'd like to see a hentai series, purely for the "Dude WTF?" and making use of the poor quality animation would show a good icon maker. Obviously you would have to take the screencaps yourself and limit that week just to said screencaps.

I'd also like to see mecha animes from the 60s and 70s. Stuff like Getter Robo, Mazinger and Combattler V.

Maybe Monster too, it's a good series and has an unique feel.

Series that are loved in the fanbases but get no love in the mainstream. Since all we ever see is Bleach, One Piece and Naruto as I said, make the lims something original and interesting. We can make icons from popular things all day long, but being 'forced' to make icons for something we're unfamilar with or out of our skill sets make us become better icon makers and more interesting icons.

Of course, the root of it is, even I'm unfamiliar with all the series you've mentioned, and thus, I'd have to do an insane amount of digging around to find screencaps, because sure as hell I'm not going to download the series myself just to take screencaps.

As for hentai, I really don't want to bring that in, so it's pretty much out of the question.

I am planning on bringing in some pretty old school anime (Astroboy being one), but mecha anime is really something I don't watch at all, apart from the a few of the Gundam series (I've only seen Wing, Seed and Seed Destiny).

You know, it's highly objective, since I'm sure the series you've mentioned are what you're used to making, and hence, would not be unfamiliar to you. As much as I want to throw in things people may have never heard about, I don't feel its fair if participants don't ever see a series and go "Oh hell yes, I LOVE THIS SERIES" and be able to bring out their full iconning potential.
