A Good Man Goes To War

Well...that was just silly.

But now I get to use this quote!

Something Vimes had learned as a young guard drifted up from memory. If you have to look along the shaft of an arrow from the wrong end, if a man has you entirely at his mercy, then hope like hell that man is an evil man. Because the evil like power, power over people, and they want ( Read more... )

So. Crying Roman with a baby: definitely cool.

The weird thing about River's reprimand is that it is exactly what she complained Ten wasn't yet. Which invites a lot of speculation as to her mental state upon discovering Ten didn't know her, as well as wondering if Ten would have gotten so bad without her little prophesy.

So you have nothing to say about the one-offs? Not even the nurse?

I have to point out that Kovarian's speech about foolig the Doctor made me very happy. All of why I want her to be the Rani is right there.

Finally, because misery loves company, someone on doctorwho complained after this episode: "I will never hear the words "jelly baby" the same way again!"

DEFINITELY cool.

...huh. Well, just as he says about her guns, just because she disapproves doesn't mean she doesn't like it.

I don't know how much there is to be said that hasn't already been. They're all fantastically amazingly awesome. And I did say something about the nurse. But I will stop and say something else:

I CAN PRODUCE COPIOUS QUANTITIES OF LACTIC FLUID!

....yep! Definitely a nurse!

Yeah, um, I'm actually buying it. Like, a lot. This is very much her MO. But also, consider. The Doctor asks what she wants the child for. And she says: "Hope" - because, really, that's always what a child is for, especially when your species is wiped out; then "in The War" - and for the last 6 years "The War" has referred to exactly one thing; and only when he asks "what war" does she say "Against you"....but who won the Time War anyway?

Or maybe I just watched The Illusionist and my head is all full of the way the same words can be true and mean very different things with all of them intended.

Oh man. Wait wait wait. ( ... )

Ahem. Magnificent quantities. Because he is truly magnificent himself. I started to make a userpic about this once... I should finish that.

And yeah. I... am very ready to be disappointed. But damnit, she would be such a PERFECT Rani, you know?! AUGH.

...Lia. Oh man. I just... but where does the neutron flow come from?!

If I ever have a child, I want someone to make me a copy of the Doctor's bassinet.

Oh, it was gorgeous. I don't believe for a moment it was his... but were I more talented at fan art, I would draw a very young William Hartnell in suspenders and shirt sleeves working on building it.

I wonder if anybody knows what it's supposed to say on it...

Well, a lot of people have made use of the writing, for sure.

Yeah, and I know some of it has been deciphered, or, at least, thought to be deciphered. And I believe that there are some that are recognizably the names of the Doctor and of the Master? And presumably it wasn't one of those. Or maybe the thing I'm thinking of is just the re-imagined Seal of Rassilon, not actually the Doctor's name. But yeah, I was wondering if any of them were known glyphs, or at least well-theorized glyphs.

From a panel at the Cardiff Who convention this weekend:

Arthur Darvill revealed that he was the first of the cast to work out the identity of River Song. Alex Kingston had already been told, but was sworn to secrecy by Steven Moffat. When he figured it out, he asked Alex if it was true, and she just looked deep into his eyes and said “hello Dad.”

He also said his first reaction when he found out that his friend Matt had first got the job as the Doctor was “I can’t wait to get a pencil case with Matt’s face on.”

So he actually figured it out? Good for him!

I wonder when he figured it out...
