Well, I actually liked School Reunion (which is the latest episode I've actually seen until Series 5) quite a lot...but sort of back to back with some of the older Sarah Jane stuff the change in characterization was jarring. But yeah, I've heard good things about later stuff as well. I've also heard bad things. I will get there when I get there, I suppose.
The old series has a very different feel to it from the new series, so liking the latter doesn't guarantee you'll like the former - but I personally think it's worth getting into. Unfortunately there's no rhyme or reason to which episodes turn up on netflix instant play. If you're serious about getting into it, google tardismedia and go from there :)
Does that mean I don't get to squee to you about the good stuff? Because I'm not sure I'll be able to take it... knowing a spoiler or two.
In any case, I will say that I'm not really looking forward to the first episode or the River developments myself, but I AM looking forward to the third and fourth episodes, especially the fourth because I have so far utterly failed to predict what's happening in it... and even the spoilers I've gotten aren't making it easier.
You are, of course, welcome to squee to your heart's content. I'm still not entirely comfortable with the idea of Doctor Who having season-length plots, so the concept of spoilers is something I've yet to get my head around. So I'm not overly worried :)
*sigh* - almost finished Sir Lancelot. What a great show that was...
Okay then. 3 because there are pirates (and a ghost).
4.... Lots of things. Time Lords seem to be involved and there's a rumor about Omega that I'm really trying not to get my hopes up about. Apart from that, I think the planet-sized entity known as The House might be a TARDIS. But it's Neil Gaiman, and so far I'm honestly really confused.
