Three in one day...

This episode.
Is so cool

It's detective work
It's really slick Daleks
It's steam punk time travel

It's lines like this:

Dalek: GET IN THE MACHINE
Victoria: *gets in the machine*
Dalek: YOUR BODY WEIGHT HAS DROPPED BY 17 OUNCES!
Victoria: Well what do you expect!?
Dalek: MORE FOOD WILL COME. YOU WILL EAT! YOU WILL NOT FEED THE FLYING PESTS!

The beautiful thing is - there's no girl. So it's Jamie who's being kidnapped and chloroformed and rescued and so on.

And the Daleks are so slick. They've got plans and names and photographs, and it works every step of the way! They're being subtle and it's brilliant. And when they're not just killing everybody in sight, they can do things like talk the Doctor into betraying Jamie - because otherwise they'll kill everybody in sight! Wow.

And...Jamie learns about trains. And comes up with fairly subtle (and correct!) theories largely on his own. He and the second doctor work so well together, especially when he doesn't have to compete with Zoe's supergenius.

This is the first time in a while an episode has been genuinely chilling. Especially an episode this old. I think I remember the punchline, too, and if so, technically the Daleks win.

And now here is the promised Jamie icon:

So.
Very.
Cool.
