All I know about the X-men I learned in the previous movies...
I probably wouldn't know any better. But the SFX stuff will certainly bother me. We've all become spoiled by the modern high-quality stuff and if they flubbed it or got cheap (for whatever reason) it's going to stick out.
Hell, even the SFX on the Star Trek Fanfix is incredible and they are running on a shoestring budget and zero profit motive. I can't believe a major motion picture would go so cheap today that it would be worse than that.
About Emma Frost: in the print I saw last night, the character is credited as Emma Frost. In the print M saw on Thursday at a different movie theater, which also had a different little extra scene at the end (he saw the movie a second time with us last night) the character is credited as Kayla's sister, Emma, which explains some of the confusion at IMDB. This is the first time I've ever heard of credits changing from print to print, and I suspect this has something to do with a last minute, not well thought out editing process.
I know nothing about Emma Frost's diamond skin. I thought it was a kinda nice touch to have her working with/guiding the blind Scott, but otherwise, the role in the film was pretty incomprehensible.

I'm sure people who are not high-strung uber-geeks will find this movie enjoyable.
Except for the SFX. Those will suck no matter who you are.
