Unless the vandalism was in order to get the animals out (ie. breaking in there in the first place), I can't say I'm a fan-- but to everything else, good on them. I hope the critters are all right, or at least out of their misery. To have pulled off something of that scale is epic.

Freedom must feel amazing for these animals no matter how fleeting or brief it may be.

I admire what A.L.F. does. To a point. I get it that to make an impact, one HAS to be extreme, otherwise nothing changes. And that some labs are so heinous, so criminal, only "criminal" acts can have any effect against them.

OTOH, the extremism garners negative public opinion. Rock/hard place.

". . . the A.L.F. pulled off one of the largest lab raids in U.S. history - and got away with it." Seeming to gloat like this isn't the smartest p.r. Maybe they don't care about public opinion, or changing minds.

IMO I think only working to appeal to public opinion will yield very small returns.

Ultimately, you need to have both. Happy animal rights people, baking cupcakes at school bake sales, and proactive animal rights people actually getting things done and saving lives. I think saving lives does trump most other arguments though.
