I agree, FWIW. I have the very strong opinion that "honesty" and "openness" lead to vastly better relationship results than the alternatives.
Decisions based on bad information tend to be bad decisions.

Cliche naivete:
If they're cheating on someone, I wouldn't consider them a friend. I couldn't stand to be with a person of that kind of moral stance.
Real life:
Slap the cheater over the head repeatedly until they fess up to the significant other and either work things out or end it before it gets any worse.
