Per usual, I'm aware that not everyone may care to read a description of every panel I attended at the splendiferous James River Writers Conference, so I will put all that under a cut. For the short version, I'll say that I had an awesome time - and got to have cool conversations with not one, but two literary agents!

Yay for a referral!

Conflict is a lot harder than it sounds. I put my characters in tricky situations, but then I tend to think of the best way that they can get immediately out of them, instead of allowing them to make stupid (or even well-meaning) mistakes.

I'm sure I read about the Handbook for Lightning Survivors on some writing blog - maybe QueryShark?

I was talking to Graham on Skype while first reading this and neither of us understand why anyone would be interested in corset-free steampunk.
