Because the people who had slaves didn't want the slaves anymore, and so they freed the slaves and everyone is united under one country, because initially they were fighting because the confederates had bigger plantations than the blue ones. Bubbles is my roommate. She's originally from the Philippines and has never taken a course in American History. She moved here when she was 22, and has been in the states for 9 years. She wants to visit Washington D.C., and I recommended reading an overview of our history first, so she could understand the historical significance of the monuments and enjoy the museums a bit more. She said she knew enough about American History, so I asked her to explain our history to me.

I about died of laughter. And she's getting a history book for her birthday.
