I felt the same way-- Japanese women: gorgeous. Guys: well, except for the very rare hottie, I thought most of 'em were pretty meh.
We always stay in Kabuki-Cho when we go (at the Shinjuku Prince)-- there is a TINY little bar around there called "Rock Bar Mother" that has all kinds of booze/beer and an English music menu so you can request from a live DJ(/bartender) while you drink. Lots of goth/industrial/rock. Can't remember exactly where it is though... but Scott used to practically live there when he was going to school.
