Photoshop hates me and apparently doesn't like to draw straight lines, but I finally got the damn diagram finished. I dread having to make the one for the Princes of the Noldor. Nevertheless, here's the second part of my very brief overview of the Sil. The first part can be found here.

AnguaLupin's Very Brief Overview of the Silmarillion, Part the Second: The coming of Elves; the Elves travel to Valinor; divisions among the Elves. )

WHOA.

That is one fricking amazing post. And table * makes table desktop background *

I kind of really want this, so I will pimp the idea out as well. I hope it finds some takers. If it doesn't, we can do it on our lonesome anyway. I just - need to get down to doing something.

BTW, I thought your HASA fic? Gorgeous. Sorry, I know you said it embarassed you, but alliterative verse is bloody tough to do. I thought it was awesome.

*flails* Really? There are some really good lines in it, I know (Beneath its widespread wings a wandering terror ran/As mounts and men were with madness stricken), but the majority of it is just cringe inducing. "Dernhelm defied the deadly captain"? "Made ready his great mace"? "Retreated farther, Eowyn arose"? "The darkest shadow had now departed"? Half of those aren't even technically alliterative verse! (I got a scathing review pointing that out. I was hurt at the time, but now, five years removed, I realize she was completely right.)

I admit to being fond of Rose in anguish from his ruined shell, though. That's a pretty cool image. Also, From its foam-flecked jaws fire dripped. Maybe I'll attempt to rewrite all the bad bits, except that while my prose skill has improved mightily in the past five years, my poetry skill has not so much ( ... )

Wow. I'm totally stunned by all the effort it must take you. Thank you so very much, this is really helpful, and I think I'm (almost^^) beginning to understand all the different Elves

Again, thanks. You win at life :D

This is great and the table is wonderful! It's very easy to read and all the important points are accounted for. You are truly doing a super job!

I’m mentioning hair colour because Tolkien fans tend to be rather obsessed by it. Note: It’s highly unlike Legolas was blond; he was Teler.

Hee! It's highly unlikely you'll convince the Orlando-fan girls about this though. I actually blame Legolas's blondness on the Ralph Bakshi film - that was my first meeting with blond!Legolas at any rate. And script wise that adaptation seems to have inspired Jackson quite a lot.

In regards a Silmfest I think that sounds like a wonderful idea. Not much of a ficcer (but I do love to read them) - but I love the meta.
