Triangles are magical. In structural engineering they are the only sided shape that can't be distorted or collapse at the joints. In drama they are always dynamic. Unlike quartets, which tend to settle into static pairs, triangles present the constant possibility of any two people uniting against the third. It is no wonder they are so often chosen ( Read more... )

Well, with the established pairings in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, it's probably closest to that last pattern. Or the second last, the rectangle. The thing that one might have to consider there, is that Ron's and Hermione's relationship is important for the plot, especially when you consider the reaction that Albus and Scorpius have to the first alternate timeline. While Harry's and Ginny's relationship has more to do with the emotions of the plot (especially how it influences what I feel is a certain theme of the play which is fatherhood).

I don't think anything develops enough with the younger characters to see a clear pattern. Scorpius fancies Rose but I don't think neither her role in the play nor the feelings Scorpius has, create a clear pattern.

Yes, they teased a Scorpius/Albus/Rose trio, but it never came into being. I really, really wish we could have seen more of Rose.

Yeah, I wish we would have seen more of Rose. I was far more interested in the play's version of the next gen (those few characters we were introduced to) than whatever fandom has come up with.

LOL that Harry/Hermione pair graphic. *flashbacks to dierondie*

One tiny quibble - Etta is Sundance's girl (though those three characters come quite close to being a ménage à trois). :-)

What? I'm totally remembering that movie wrong then!

I did sort of want to put it into the ménage à trois category. It definitely has that flavor.

I wasn't going to put the red hearts in but then I just had to. :p
