Divination by Liralen and Angua

It's 3 AM, do you know where your discretion is?

Mine being quite absent, I'm going to quote from this friends-locked post I made in May 2003 where dianora and I gigglingly predicted future fandom discourse:

Liralen: "You see, in the scene where he snogs Ginny senseless, there was obviously a love potion at work (remember the foreshadowing?). Ginny ( Read more... )

You can win any debate or answer any question in HP with 'Ginny is a whore', seemingly.

that's almost as good as Jo answering all questions from H/Hr shippers: "I did it for the Lols!"*

*refers to a recent wank on Caina and her wanting to interview JKRowling...

I love that! We can add, "Trelawney" to your list of nicknames, can't we? That was a good one!

*shuffles feet nervously*

We're a lot better at predicting obvious stuff.

The fact that you predicted it so early on is evidence that your interpretation is well grounded in canon, right? After all, that's what we H/G shippers say to counter the "it happened so suddenly" anti-H/G stupidity.

Absolutely!

There is tons of foreshadowing in the first four books that Ginny is a manipulative touched-by-Evil wench who will one day seduce Harry by slipping him Love Potion, and that Hermione -- who truly loves Harry with all her heart -- will at some point in the future behave in an out-of-character fashion and act like she loves Ron (as if!).

And, of course, for this:
anguaorc: It gives Harry's and Hermione's love a chance to grow deeper, too.
anguaorc: Because they will be able to compare their True Love to the Fake Substitutes, and they'll *know*.
anguaorc: JKR didn't end up with her first boyfriend, you know.

JKR didn't end up with her first boyfriend, you know.

Or even her first husband, actually. (A useful response to the Book 7 epilogue, perhaps?)

(Or are people using that one already? ...no, never mind, I don't want to know....)

Heh. I just got that you meant our interpretation of future canon discourse, not our "interpretation" of canon. :p

Yes, that one was superbly grounded. ;)
