Deep roots may not be touched by the frost, but we're having drought conditions here in southern California.

Now, where did I put that dratted blade? The Dwarves are here to do some mending...

As an Aussie, let me reassure you - bougainvillea can survive just about *anything* that the universe throws at it. Then it just sprouts again, complete with inch-long thorns and nice pretty flowery bits... which attract ants, bees and wasps.

Mind you, I think frost does tend to annoy it. Just a little. Haven't seen too many since I moved to Canbrrra. Over in Perth, they're one of the several thousand plants you can plant to prevent unwanted visitors. Something about those thorns, I think.
