What exactly are - were? - the Black Panthers? I know they involved civil rights in the 60s, but we didn't discuss them much in class (I'm in a sixties class.)

No. They were a bit like the more violent supporters of MLK. Angea Davis was in there, and I think Malcom X, too. I'm not sure.
Some people call them a the black version of the KKK, but they were LOADS cooler than that.
