On Religion and Atheists.

Here's an interesting article that was published in the LA Times: [Link!Interesting findings don't you think? But after reading it, I din't stop there.. I read the comments people had left behind. I was not just stunned, but appalled by the lack of intelligence involved by most of the authors, in the process of writing out their comments ( Read more... )

Pretty sad, isn't it? dakini_bones September 29 2010, 02:16:43 UTC
My brother, who is not particularly scholarly would knock the socks off the door-to-door missionaries who came by our house all the time.
He took *ONE* bible as literature class in college and he knew more than these people who were trying to convert us.
Um, yeah.
Those were great arguments to watch though!

Hehe! I love doing that! :)

It's a pathetic sight sometimes, when someone from the local Church or Temple (or what have you) comes by and I find out that they have no clue about their own religion. :(

I've never had a formal religious education, and yet find it easy to grind their noses into the dust. It's a sad thing really, but I do get a kick out of doing it. No matter how often it happens, I find it to be an immensely rewarding experience.

Don't get me wrong though.. I do respect their respective religions. It's just that their ignorance of a subject that they tout as being the be all and end all of our very existence gnaws at my nerves.

If someone really believes in a religious faith, I find it hard to understand why they have not tried to suck it up enough to rival the knowledge of a bystander such as myself.

As I see it, they deserve to bite their tongues and regret having spent so much time thinking they were great, instead of actually trying to be so. :)

People get swayed by blind faith without even questioning it, which is the worst possible predicament of all. How many of them, stopped doing something just because someone else sneezed?? Its purely a spasmodic reaction, and one is asked to take a momentary pause to allow another sneeze to come through or allow the body which is still in the throes of a spasm to rest. Try taking a photo just right after a sneeze. Its a difficult thing! Ultimately, what has happened is that the scientific reasoning behind it got thrown out of the window and people just started to cling on to superstitious beliefs which at best are half truths, without even trying to question the very genesis of it!! God save them all.
