I don't really think you are crazy. But if you do that, then what about say the Communist Manifesto or Man's Search for Meaning or I and Thou or any other sweeping commentary on How People Work?
(Please take no offense, it's been so long since the opportunity to debate anything book-related presented itself, I could not help myself).
I'm not at all offended! You make a good point. It was just the word "totalitarian" on the cover that inspired me. I haven't actually read it yet. Nor the Manifesto der Kommunistischen Partei (the only other book you mention which I have).
Oh, you should give them a shot, they are great! Ich und Du is more philosophical, whereas MSFM is psychological/historical. You could toss in Fromm and Marx and start a whole subcategory of influential Jewish writers if you so desired. :)
Aw man, I'm realising that I haven't yet gotten around to reading any big name philosophers, either. I wish someone had made me read some, during school.
This is an easy one. Stick the book on an upper left shelf.
This being said by someone who was terribly impressed when Alistair Cooke showed off his tall and wide wall of Americana books, organized by geography. New England upper right, Texas bottom middle, and so on.
I've been accused of shelving by color. Not. It's by topic and size.
