[Limping around, looking for something resembling a punching bag. Or the ponybees from the Elegante. Something to hit. He's standing on the edge of the forest, contemplating the trees themselves, when he senses the presence. Without turning around, he literally growls.]

True. When one is facing something they fear, flight is primarily their first response.
[So why was Aara no longer avoiding him? She took a step closer, then tilted her head in incomprehension. Kill him? No. She did not wish to kill him. But...]
You were not affected by the sickness. You did not... rampage and cause harm to your friends. To innocents here. What if something similar happens again, and you are affected by it. Harm people you have no wish to harm?
How would you... how would we...
