Ohh, Lady Mary from Downton as Kate Percy. . .could be worse.

I didn't see Hotspur/Henry Percy listed in the Richard II cast, which makes me wonder if they cut his scenes or if I just can't read.

Okay, I am focused and I have my areas of interest.

They probably just didn't list him because they aren't keeping the same cast between RII and 1H4 and he doesn't have a lot of lines in RII. I mean, all of those "the cast also includes" people at the end have to be doing something.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. And if David Morrisey, who's only in his 40s, is playing Northumberland, they probably went youngish for the Percy casting. Though if they keep the scene where he challenges Aumerle, that would be a fair amount of lines, so I suspect it's cut.

Not that many more lines -- I mean, we really emphasize it in fandom but all he actually says in it is this:

Aumerle, thou liest; his honour is as true
In this appeal as thou art all unjust;
And that thou art so, there I throw my gage,
To prove it on thee to the extremest point
Of mortal breathing: seize it, if thou darest.

Also, they don't list the Duchess of Gloucester or Carlisle or the Ambiguously Gay Trio or Exton, so I'm assuming we can't really determine anything about cuts based on the cast list.

Let's hope for Ben Whishaw it's "Hour to Hour we ripe and ripe" instead of "rot and rot."

That does look tasty. Is it me or are they going for the Jesus look in that photo?

A little bit! But I can't tell if it's on purpose or we're culturally conditioned so that long dark hair + beard = Jesus. Still, Richard himself was really into being Jesusy, so it could well be.

But it doesn't quite fit if we recognise that Patrick Stewart is, of course, God.

And John of Gaunt thinks he's God, so, perfect casting!

Wow, that definitely looks like a stunning cast - I can't wait! At least something good is coming out of the stupid Olympics.

I hope we don't have to wait too long to get it here! I'm sure we will get it eventually, because it's a high-profile BBC thing and it's co-sponsored by NBC/Universal and WNET, but WE WANTS IT. ASAP.

I honestly don't know how I'm going to handle these new BBC histories. I may combust, but it won't be spontaneous.

But if it were spontaneous you'd miss most of them!
