Day #17: Your favorite speech

I talked about Richard II's prison soliloquy on both Day 1 and Day 2, so I think I will do the lazy thing again and post performances of it. Re the dramatic centrifuge, friend and I wanted to recast Derek Jacobi in all the major roles. Young Derek as Hamlet, older Derek as Claudius, and his BBC Richard II as Ophelia.

The prison speech was said 3 times in the 2000 RSC production - once at the beginning, again while Richard is in prison and at the end by Henry.

BROKEN IN PIECES HERE.

You know that Jacobi!Richard simply IS Richard to me - so that was A GOOD START, but I do like the others too. OH RICHARD, WHY SO HEARTBREAKING AND SO AWESOME.
