I take it that young Samuel wasn't impressed with Cologne, then.

He did have a nice way with language.

Oh dear. Poor old Cologne. Though it probably deserved it, and continued to do so for some time (I know a protest song, written within living memory, about the Bestial Smell of parts of the Rhine....)
