in the grand tradition of spending money I don't really have on theater tickets

I am going to this.

It was 20 bucks and I will happily stand up for 75 minutes to see Edward II at CST. Especially since with the standing-room tickets you get to wander around the action. AWESOME.

Oh hey, and Jeffrey "Hal In Leather Pants" Carlson is doing the title role. ROCK.

hee, does this make me an enabler?

I don't know the adaptation they mention -- the one I saw was adapted by Garland Wright.

I'm looking forward to your review!

Nah, I was going to go anyway. You just reminded me.

Man, I hope Carlson wears leather pants again.

YES. There's a bigger version of the icon pic somewhere in here.

(I also have some pics of him as Richard II from last year, somewhere; I should find where they are.)

Oh cool! That's more of a professional thing, isn't it?

YES. Theater tickets, like books, are a WISE PROFESSIONAL INVESTMENT.

Especially if they involve dead gay kings. I mean, Edward II and Richard II are very similar, and Carlson played the latter role about a year ago. (cheshyre got me a program with his autograph, and passed along my compliments on his Prince Hal.)

JEALOUSSSSSSS. Oh my GOD, I would love to see that. I demand a full write-up afterwards. :)

Do you really think I could go to a production of Edward II (even if it wasn't starring Jeffrey Carlson) and NOT do a full writeup? ;)

Well, I wanted to be SURE. :)

Count on it. :D

My tickets are for October 4, though, so it won't turn up for another six weeks.

What is with all these black Gavestons? I mean, it's not like I mind--on the contrary, I think it's awesome--but still. O_O

indeed, that's what I had in New York! I suppose in a twitchy way it addresses the "base-born" issue of why the dukes hate him.

*nodnod* That's why it interested/concerned me--on the one hand, kind of a heavy-handed way of getting the text across; on the other hand, interracial mansexings.

And the one in New York had an exceptionally sightly backside, too.

The Archbishop was also a black guy, so it wasn't the only thing going on with the casting.
