Okay, as promised (since I know you're all just salivating over the prospect ;) ), a few thoughts on the CDs -- Richard II/Edward II and Twelfth Night. These are mostly just impressions and offhand comments, as I'm not in a "reviewing" mindset, but that's all one. ;) Also, I tend to focus more on the acting bits because that's what I'm good at ( Read more... )

Delighted you have got them so quickly and that you like them so much. Liam Brennan is my particular favourite and so delighted he gets such to do such a huge hunk of Edward. I just wish they had broadcast it too. Richard II was a live broadcast from the Globe on 7th Dec and repeated last week on BBC4 (the BBC digital arts channel) - I hope they finally see fit and broadcast it on terrestial tv (I don't have digital) and also that they broadcast it on BBC America for the American audiences - Mark is a unique actor and he and Liam (who is highly under-rated in the UK) have some really edgy scenes together especially in the Deposition scene - the picture on the CD cover is Liam as Bolingbroke just before the jig. The screams are Paddy Brennan (Antonio in 12th Night)and Assasin, Bagot and 2nd Gardener and Richard Glaves (Curio) as who plays Bushey and one of the assassins in Richard (and Lady Margaret and Edward III in Edward.) Enjoy - you will see them again I am sure ! I flew with a friend from the UK to LA to see 12th Night ( ... )

I rather liked the angsty Bolingbroke picture on the back cover -- kinda figured it was from the end of the play. ;)

And yeah, Brennan's Edward II, what I heard of it, impressed me; it's a shame that I won't get to see that production, too, especially as I'm quite fond of the play, and haven't had many opportunities to see it.

I imagine the deposition scene rocks. I mean, I love that scene anyway (as anybody who knows me will certainly attest). ;)

Thanks for the info! I'll keep my eyes open for any info about the next tour.
