continuing to keep tabs on David Tennant's Richard II for all my readers

So when the press release for this production came out, it mentioned that Oliver Ford-Davies was going to be in it, and since he was the only other actor mentioned, I assumed, I think fairly naturally, that he was going to be playing John of Gaunt, since if your press release for Richard II only mentions your Richard and an old dude, it's probably ( Read more... )

Hooray! Although I haven't seen his RII, *shamefaced* but I know you're a good judge of Richards and Gaunts so your squee level is enough for me to squee. :D

I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed for a DVD release. Or a transdimensional suitcase with a viewing platform set one second out of ordinary time so a bunch of us can invisibly go and watch it. *nods*

Shockingly I have never been to Stratford. (Well not the on-Avon variety, I've been to the one where t'Olympics was many times as it's only 10mins away by train).

But I am now tempted to see if I can get tickets for this and arrange a trip there solely on the basis of your raving about it. (David Tennant is of course a draw in his own right but I probably wouldn't bother if you hadn't made me realise how lucky I am to be able to go in the first place. What with being on the right continent and in the right country and all.)

The Stratford run isn't sold out yet, and no showings are at 'few tickets remaining', which is somewhat encouraging. I think it's about 3 weeks before the Stratford and London runs open up for public booking, at which point it'll go crazy fast, no doubt (I've heard stories about Hamlet).

We don't know each other a bit, but if you want me to look up specific prices or seats left let me know.

I love Michael Pennington and am so excited about this! I saw him speak at the V&A Museum with Trevor Nunn and Harriet Walter--he was lovely.

There will be a DVD! I have faith.
