I'm not sure I actually think this poem's depiction of the present state of poetry and gender studies is accurate, but Margaret Cavendish is cool, so I'm posting it anyway.

I agree with you about Kumin and Cavendish. (And the MCSociety has lovely little conferences in quite nice places. Go, if you can sometime.)

What's making me grit my teeth is actually what she says about women in the 17th century. As I'm sure you know, most marriages were not arranged (except in Cavendish's class, but that's not the same thing as "most") and women could own property in certain circumstances. And "chattel" oversimplifies a complex, although hardly egalitarian, situation. *grumbles*
