So, we still don't have internet at home. We are trying to get something done about the homicidal fridge (apparently the entier house doesn't have a ground line and it's gonna cost about Rs. 4000 to get one) but that's all the progress I have to report for now.

I'm 18 now. Whoop-de-flippin-doo. I'm gonna start nagging my mom about getting me a ( Read more... )

You'd be pretty surprised how easy it is to get scholarships, and large ones at that, when you have a high school diploma.

And I envy you. The Taj Mahal is supposed to be one of the most beautiful buildings on earth, if not the most. I have an art major friend who would kill to see it.

What's WSU?

And glad to see all's going well.

Not Taj Mahal (althugh I have been there and I do agree that it's a very nice hunk of marble). Taj is a chain of really classy hotels in India. I'm not sure what the North American equivalent would be but you'd have to pay an arm and a leg to stay there..

WSU = Washington State University

And they just threw that scholarship at me out of the blue, I hadn't even thought abuot actually trying to apply for one!!

I figured WSU was something like that. Incidently, the crappy community college I started at was called MSU.

And yeah, they do that to you. Reasonably good high school grades net you a huge amount of free money, and I see plenty of idiots on full four year scholarships.

...But drop out of high school and then have a near-flawless college record, pass upper-division courses as a freshman and be able to produce a dozen references from professors and you get nothing. Bah.

And oh. Still nice. *remembers that he needs to stay at the Friendship Restaurant in Beijing someday*
