из-за денег, из-за удобства, из-за того, что туда он может в kindergarten пойти, а не в pre-k.

так везде учителя меняются. Но в этой школе мне именно что понравилось, что школа маленькая, так что учителя могут обмениваться впечатлениями об учениках, плюс весь класс остается вместе, а не тасуется каждый год -- меня как раз это больше удручает.

How much do these schools typically cost, with and without 'prodlenka'? Are there any entrance exams/interviews for kids, or once you pay you're in?

Click on the link, then click on the "tuition" link there :).

This one is cheap compared to others.

There's an interview/mild testing for the kid and an interview for the parents. Then you pay an application fee, fill out the application (includes an essay :) ) and wait for two or three months to find out if you got in.

jaw-dropping-expensive, but I guess such is life :)

I'm also amazed at the complexity of the application process :) Reminds me of college applications, and this is pre-K!! Please do post updates on the process, I really am very interested. We're considering private schools for Sasha, I am not a huge fan of NY public schools.

Yep, definitely reminds me of college aps. And the problem, of course, is that we need to go to open houses, and then to parent interview, and then to kid interview -- and all of that during work week; so I don't know how I'll manage to take all that time off work.

Как-то очень далеко! Правда я не совсем знаю где вы живёте :) А я кстати раньше жила на этой Трапело Роад :)) Только гораздо ближе к городу, практически в Белмонте. Если по теме, то я бы наверное не решилась так далеко ребёнка возить. Хотя конечно непонятно какие другие варианты ещё будут.

Ещё раз, в каком месяце Гоша родился?

спасибо. Сами мы тоже как-то будем заниматься, но жаль, если столько времени в школе тратится впустую, тем более, что наш будет еще и на продленке до упора.
