про определение кислот и щелочей капустным соком в моих книжках тоже есть. Но это и в Чевостике было озвучено, а мне надо что-то, чего ребенок еще не видел/слышал :)

I remember our chemistry teacher was doing pH indicator tricks. It looked very impressive: she poured a clear liquid into an orange liquid, and a purple liquid resulted. Or: she poured a clear liquid into a clear liquid, and an orange liquid resulted (for example). It looked very impressive. I am not sure if you would be able to explain the concept of pH to your kids at this point, though. Not sure where to buy the chemicals, although you may be able to buy indicator strips and pour vinegar on them or smth.

I don't care about being able to explain the concept at the time I do these experiments. I want it to be more of a "magic show" for several kids.

One of the recommended indicators is red cabbage juice, but my kids already know about that one, so it won't be quite as magical to them. need some other one :).

только лучше не отпивать все-таки из стакана с водой. одно из самых основных правил химлаборатории - ничего в рот не класть. никогда.
