Tumblr user huldukatt discovered some B's Log scans of new images released of Retour Julious & Zephel. No surprises with Jules, but Zephel seems to have...well, not changed much, really (though maybe in his hairstyle a little?), but the clearer, full-color shot of his costume makes him look a little more like himself. Julious is fancy, as expected. I wonder - are the blue parts are supposed to have a star pattern on them, or is it their attempts at the bishie sparkle? I still don't like that brooch; it's too big and too close to his face. Your eye is drawn to it and it detracts from his overall image in my opinion. I mean, the entire thing is bigger than his face...

At least he's not stuck in Zephel's situation. Most of his outfit I happen to think is okay. It fits his personality rather well, which is good. Maybe a little too much detail with the fleur-de-lis? The bottom of his cape looks like it has lace or tulle, which concerns me.

My biggest problem with him is the fact that he's wearing a belly shirt.

If I had venture my own guess with Julious's sparkles, I'd say they're part of an effect in the magazine; they're not visible in the second shot. That would be very interesting if they were on the blue of his outfit, though, wouldn't it? Two different interpretations of light: gleaming, overwhelming gold; piercing starlight. I don't quite understand how the size of that brooch has made it this far in the design process; you noting that it's bigger than his face really drives how visually unbalanced it is home.

Re: Zephel: the fringe (and, really, the design of the cape overall) is not of a part with the rest of his outfit. It's cut from the same "odd design choices that shouldn't have survived to final cut" metaphorical cloth as Julious's brooch.

(The tight belly shirt and the odd way they're kind of framing his navel don't quite run to my tastes. Maybe I'm just overly sensitive here because I've run across a lot of unfortunate shota-esque doujinshi with the character.)
