Passing along news is just passing along anything that is pretty normal and that people wouldn't really care much about, but still holds some interest.

Gossiping is when something is told that is a pretty big deal about someone or something thcould possibly result as cool, funny or insulting.

This isn't like a strict def or anything, but it basically summerizes my thoughts on the whole thing!
