The only reason Jane was still anywhere near PPTH was to search House's office for clues. As soon as he found something useful (or nothing at all), he was the hell out of New Jersey, for good. And he was taking his daughter with him.
Cuddy checked a number of House's favorite hiding spots. She figured those would be the most likely places for House to have left clues and the most likely spots Jane would also search. She finally crossed paths with him on the fourth floor in House's office.
"Patrick," she said, pushing through the door into the office. "I've been looking for you."
Jane looked up from where he was rooting around in the desk. "Cuddy." He stood, putting his hands into his pockets. Not only did he want to avoid people in general, but he really wanted to avoid people House knew personally, people that loved him. Facing Jimmy had been bad enough.
"I was just ah, going." Jane shrugged a shoulder and tipped his head to the side, starting to head for the door.
"No, don't go." She reached out to grasp his arm in an attempt to stop him from leaving. Although she felt some sense of relief that House wasn't gone permanently, she was still upset by the fact she knew House was going through something terrible, something painful. The only thing she could do was fulfill her promise to do as he'd asked and talk to Jane.
