Hyukjae is about to go outside the school when it rained. Good thing, he always brings his umbrella with him. He opens his sapphire blue umbrella and starts to walk his way to a café. He is going to meet a special person in there. As he continues to walk, the rain is busy pouring. The sound of the waters dripping is like music to his ears. Whenever it rains, Hyukjae is happy. He loves the rain because that’s how he met the love of his life.
(Flashback)
“I’m always prepared in times like this. I never forget to bring my umbrella with me.” Hyukjae talks to himself of how proud he is that he has his umbrella with him at all times. It’s not yet rainy season but it’s already raining. He is walking in an empty street, probably because some of the students ran their lives to not get drenched by the rain, when he sees an idiot walking really leisurely in the rain.
He actually doesn’t need to care for the boy but he thinks that the boy is stupid enough to not be familiar with that he will catch a cold if he gets really soaked by the rain. He runs towards the boy and shares his umbrella. The boy stops his trace and looks up. Hyukjae glares at him but the boy just smiles back. Hyukjae can feel his heart beating faster. The boy’s smile is so captivating and those round eyes are so mesmerizing. He stares at the boy’s features and the next thing he knew, he is also smiling.
Hyukjae is sure that he is pretty annoyed with the boy but he questions himself why the heck is he smiling at him now. He tells his heart to stop going insane as the boy’s arm constantly brushes to his. They continue to walk until they reached their stop. “Do you want me to bring you home?” He asks but the boy refuses. “No need. I’m fine. Thank you for sharing your umbrella with me. Bye!” The boy bids goodbye with a small smile in his face and started running in the opposite direction which Hyukjae assumes that is his way home. He watches him until his figure completely disappeared then he decides to smack his head when he remembered that he forgot to ask his name.
The next day, Hyukjae is running late again. He overslept for the second time and blames his alarm clock for not waking him up. “Aish! I must buy batteries later!” He keeps running and was about to reach the school gate when he accidentally bumped into someone. He falls hard and same goes to the person he bumped into. They both groan in annoyance.
When he looks up, he was so surprised to see the boy he shared his umbrella with yesterday. ‘We’re both studying in the same school!’ He thought and smiles to himself. The boy bows his head in an instant and started to apologize. “I’m sorry! I was really in a hurry.” The boy extends his hand and Hyukjae gladly accepts it.
When the boy looks at him, Hyukjae can sense that the boy suddenly got tensed. “I’m really sorry but I need to go. I’m late in my class.” The boy says once more and enters the school first. Hyukjae just scratches his head for forgetting to ask his name once again but he suddenly remembered that he is also late so he starts running with all his might until he reached his class.
When he reaches his class, an eraser almost hit his face. Luckily it missed. He hates that teacher so much. “Lee Hyukjae! It’s the second time now! Be late tomorrow and you will get detention. Go to your seat now.” He calmly walks towards his seat and silently curses his teacher.
The door suddenly bursts open. The teacher glares at someone outside. “New student?” The teacher asks and a boy with the same features as the one Hyukjae shared his umbrella with and the one he bumped into earlier. ‘He is a new student!’ He exclaims in his head and instantly grinning like an idiot.
“Okay class, we have a new student. Please introduce yourself.”
“Hi. I’m Lee Sungmin. Please be nice to me.” Sungmin says and he smiled. ‘So his name is Sungmin. Aigoo, he is so cute!’ Hyukjae squeals in his mind and continued to grin widely.
“You may take the seat next to Lee Hyukjae. Hyukjae-ssi, please raise your hand.” The teacher commands and he follows. He raises his hand and Sungmin starts to make his way next to him. He quietly takes his seat and Hyukjae just stares at him. He leans closer to Sungmin’s desk. “You know, I’ve been dying to know your name. I’m lucky that you’re my new seatmate now Sungmin. I’m Lee Hyukjae. Let’s be friends.” Hyukjae extends his hand and Sungmin gladly accepts it. “Me too Hyukjae-ssi.”

From that day on, they became really good friends. In a year, Hyukjae finds himself falling deeper for Sungmin. He knows it all started when he first saw Sungmin’s smile under his umbrella and the way Sungmin secretly glances at him at school. He can sense that Sungmin might be feeling the same thing but he was never sure. And because he’s not certain, he never confessed his feelings for him. Today, Hyukjae decides to tell him how he feels. He is going to risk everything because he can’t hide it anymore.
He arrives at the café where he’s supposed to meet Sungmin. He looks around and saw him staring at outside the window. He smiles and made his way to him. “Hi Ming!” He greets and Sungmin was a bit startled. “Hello Hyuk. What took you so long? I want to eat strawberry cheesecake already!” Sungmin whines but Hyukjae just grins at him.
They order their food and while waiting, they talked about random things. “I wish you didn’t transfer school Hyukkie. I feel so alone.” Sungmin says out of the blue. Hyukjae is indeed not happy that he transferred school when they reached their junior year. He never planned to leave Sungmin behind but his parents cannot afford to pay his tuition fee in his previous school anymore so he must change schools. But what he is happy about is that Sungmin never missed a day seeing him. They continue to hang out. “I miss you so much Hyukkie.” Sungmin pouts and Hyukjae can’t help but smile at how adorable this boy in front of him is. ‘I miss you too Minnie, more than anything.’
When they finished eating, they decide to go home. It is still raining and Hyukjae doesn’t know if he should be glad or be annoyed that Sungmin doesn’t have his umbrella with him again. ‘How the heck did he arrive here if it’s raining awhile ago?’ But no matter what, they can still share his umbrella.
While walking home, Hyukjae abruptly stops which made Sungmin to stop walking as well and look at him. “What’s wrong?” Sungmin questions but Hyukjae stares at him. “Hyukkie?”
“Minnie, do you know why I love the rain?” He asks out of the blue because he doesn’t know how he will begin to inform him his feelings.
“Uh, no. Why?” The totally confused Sungmin answers.
“It is because I experienced the two best things that ever happened to me before while it was raining.”
Sungmin tilts his head, curious of what are those two things. “Really? Tell me! Tell me!” He exclaims as he clings to Hyukjae’s arm.
“Falling in love with you is the second best thing that ever happened to me, finding you is the first best thing Minnie.” True enough that he first found Sungmin while the latter is a complete idiot walking in the rain and the second thing is that he fell in love the moment he saw Sungmin smiled at him.
Sungmin’s heart almost jumped out of him. ‘Did he just confess? He’s not kidding right?’
“I love you Lee Sungmin.” Hyukjae confirms. Sungmin didn’t think twice as he claims Hyukjae’s lips with his. Hyukjae is in a total shock that he dropped his umbrella. After some seconds, he completely understood that Sungmin is returning his feelings and he kissed him back. He wraps his hand around Sungmin’s neck as Sungmin puts his arms on Hyukjae’s waist. They are getting soaked in the rain but they don’t care anymore as they are sharing their first kiss under the rain with their first love.
