Little Sungmin ran her way towards her class. She was late because her Hae-appa and Hyukkie-umma overslept and her adorable parents argued about something she doesn’t understand. After blaming each other, her parents then decided to drive her to school as they saw their wall clock says, 9:32. When she arrived at her classroom, she looked around for her teacher while gasping for air and lucky enough that their teacher wasn’t there yet. She silently thanked the heavens. ‘Thanked God, I’m not late.’
She slowly walked towards her shared seat with little Kyuhyun. Like what she always does every morning, she greeted him good morning with a wide smile on her face but like any other mornings, little Kyuhyun stared at her for a good five seconds and looked away. Little by little, the smile on her face disappeared. She placed herself next to little Kyuhyun and stared outside the window watching the snow falls as she thought, ‘Same old. Same old.’
It’s been always the same for little Sungmin. Since she transferred at this kindergarten and been seated next to the genius Cho Kyuhyun, not even once he paid attention to her. At first, she thought he’s mute but one day during recess, little Kyuhyun actually talked to little Jonghyun and little Jino. She was really shocked at the same time annoyed because she was always been ignored by her little seatmate.
She sighed as she glanced towards little Kyuhyun. The handsome little boy seating next to him is making her feelings very sad. She really likes little Kyuhyun. The first time they met, she tried her best to be friends with him even though she was always disregarded, she never gave up. ‘Maybe he doesn’t like me back.’
After the class ended, little Sungmin sat on the doorway of their school as she waited for her Hyukkie-umma to pick her up. Another day of school passed by yet she never had the chance to be friends with her seatmate. She heaved a sigh as she stared at the sky, watching for the snow to fall. ‘Minnie failed for the nth time.’
She was zoning out to her own world when she didn’t notice little Kyuhyun sat next to her. He loves it when she’s daydreaming and not knowing that he is staring at her. At times like this, his heart is being calmed down. Whenever little Sungmin is staring blankly, not even bothering her surroundings makes him like her more. It’s not the first time it happened but every time she waited for her mom, little Kyuhyun would wait with her. ‘Minnie is really pretty.’
They never talked because little Kyuhyun doesn’t want to. Every time she talks to him, the heart of this little boy excites. He doesn’t dare to know why and he doesn’t care at all. He kept ignoring her because his heart never calms when she’s there right next to him and tried bothering her with this and that. It’s like his heart is going to explode the minute he interacts with little Sungmin so he restrained himself from talking to her and ignored her like forever.
Little Kyuhyun stared some more and was actually lost in his own world too. He didn’t notice that little Sungmin is already looking at him. She tried to get his attention but failed. Little Kyuhyun stayed staring. She started poking him lightly but again, she failed. She had enough of being ignored and the next thing she knew, she was crying out loud.
Little Kyuhyun’s heart almost jumped out of him after realizing that little Sungmin is now crying. He looked around to see if someone made the other cry. He panicked not knowing what to do. She kept crying and he frowned seeing little Sungmin in tears.
“Minnie! Minnie! Minnie!” He called hoping that the little girl would look at him.
Little Sungmin cannot believe that little Kyuhyun actually said her name. She cried even harder maybe because she’s too surprised at the moment and because she’s too happy. She almost fainted when little Kyuhyun grabbed her waist and embraced her tight. She stopped. Her world just stopped.
A long deafening silence filled the air. That moment was too precious that both of them didn’t want to let each other go. Little Kyuhyun’s heart is actually calmed at the moment, the exact opposite of what he thought would happen. It’s not his intention to hug her but he needed to because when he is crying, his Teukie-umma would always embrace him and he’ll stop. Feeling the warm embrace of his mom makes his heart serene so he assumed that embraces could really make a heart calm down.
“Kyunnie! Kyunnie!” She called as she struggled to pull away from little Kyuhyun’s embrace. His hug is getting tighter as he was lost in his own mind. When she sensed that he won’t let go, she tried calling his attention again. “Kyunnie! Can’t. Breath. Let. Go. Now. Please.” She pleaded and little Kyuhyun pulled away.
“Why did you cry?” He asked little Sungmin who is busy staring at him with disbelief.
“Where’s Kyunnie? What did you do to him? Are you an alien?” She blurted out and got a little bit embarrassed. She lowered her head and covered her face with her hands.
Little Kyuhyun chuckled with little Sungmin’s actions. “Minnie, I’m Kyunnie. Aliens aren’t real.” He stated making the little girl look at him with confusion in her eyes. Blame her dad for telling her that aliens are real.
“But why are you talking to me now? Why now? She questioned and she anticipated for his answer.
Little Kyuhyun was taken aback. How could he tell her that his heart beats madly when she’s near him? She might think that he’s creepy if he told her that. Like now that they are talking to each other, he can feel his heart beats faster. He likes her, no doubt about it so he decided to not restrain himself from her anymore as he wanted to be with her starting today. “I’m sorry Minnie but I promise I won’t ignore you again.”
After hearing that, little Sungmin didn’t think twice and gave little Kyuhyun a kiss that landed on his lips. She was too happy that little Kyuhyun would be friends with her starting today. After a long time, he will pay attention to her. Little Kyuhyun almost lost his mind that little Sungmin just kissed him. And because he is too pleased, he hugged her again.
They shared stories while waiting for little Sungmin’s mom to arrive. Little Kyuhyun intertwined his hand little Sungmin’s. Both blushed by the sudden action of the little boy but they didn’t mind. They continued sharing stories about aliens, bunnies, toys and their parents.
Something was running through little Kyuhyun’s mind. ‘I like you. I like you.’ He keeps repeating in his head as little Sungmin was blabbering about something her Hae-appa said. She suddenly stopped talking when she saw little Kyuhyun creeping a smile as he looked at her. “What’s wrong Kyunnie?” She asked gaining the sweetest answer of all.
“I like you Minnie.”
“Oh! I like you too!” She exclaimed innocently making the boy flushed like mad.
Too young to kiss, too young to hold hands, too young to realize what their feelings are but when a heart found its other half, it will beat crazily, it will calm down, you will fall in love.
