Oh that was simply fantastic. I love how you made Nimueh Morgause's teacher. How she taught Morgause about the elements and the value of balance in the old religion. It's as though you can sense a tradition being handed down, can understand more fully the value of the way of life Uther is deliberately wiping out. And things end up returning full circle as well because Merlin killed Nimueh. Lovely how you made Seneca sound druidic. I love this to pieces; it fit the world of legend Merlin depends on so beautifully.
Thank you! I'm so thrilled that you liked how I handled Seneca's words. I read them and immediately began to imagine them fitting into the tennets of the Old Religion, something perfect for Nimueh to teach Morgause.
Heh, I admit, the last part where Morgause deals with Nimueh's abrupt death was a late addition. At first, it was going to be another part of the lesson that Nimueh was trying to teach her student, but then I thought that it'd be more interesting to bring Morgause from the student that she was to who she was in canon. I thought it might be more fitting if it hinted that Morgause is either throwing off Nimueh's teachings or twisting them to fit her desire for vengeance. Of course, she doesn't know who to unleash her vengeance on... ;)
Those were great. I loved how Nimueh was Morgause's teacher. She would certainly know something of Arthur's past then. Mine was lovely. I felt so sad for Merlin, giving up a lifetime of happiness to make sure his friends were safe. I'm not familiar with crossovers but they made sense.
Thanks! I think Nimueh and Morgause are an interesting combination in any story, so it was a delight to write something for them.
I admit I was a little confounded with your prompt at first. But then I started thinking what would entail in taking the 'path of least resistance' and how that might actually be a bad thing. Which, of course, led me to think of an uber-Camlann situation. ;) Faced with that, I'm sure Merlin would definitely choose to go, especially if he had some hope that his going would lead to a better outcome.
