Can I say finally? I'm new to the fandom, and all the reunion fic I've read so far is all rainbows and ponies, and while that's nice and makes my heart ache less, it's just completely OOC.

This, on the other hand? Is absolutely perfect. THIS is what I imagine Elizabeth must have felt like, must have gone through. This is what I imagine she might have changed into, because it fits.

I've been beyond annoyed that in one episode, Sheppard is throwing around phrases like "We don't leave our people behind!" and "No matter what it takes, I'll find her!", and in the next, nobody even thinks about Elizabeth anymore.

I'll stop ranting now. Just... This is perfect, thank you.

When I wrote this, I was still dealing with a lot of my bitterness over the way the show had been handled, how it had increasingly become a train wreck. This fic, I think, became my way of channeling that bitterness, and a lot of it poured out of Elizabeth's mouth within the story.

I love the fluffy reunion fics, there are quite a few good ones out there that are a joy to read, but I also think that the more angsty, bitter ones would be more likely to actually happen. Elizabeth had to have gone through hell at Oberoth's hands, and the fact that John didn't live up to the mantra he threw in her face just within days of meeting her had to have hurt, big time.

Too bad we just never got to see it.
