Haha, Terry P. does get a bit wordy, but it's just his style. My guess is he used that specific wording as foreshadowing device for when he introduced Anghammarad.
I loved the idea of dead ships sailing on undersea currents, it is such a haunting image complete with the crew still at their stations and the dead calm of the ocean. I still have no idea how this will tie into a story about a postman, lol.

Yes, calenture sounds incredibly scary, although, I got a good laugh out of this line: "People who step onto the air one hundred and fifty feet above the ground seldom have much to discuss afterwards." I'm morbid like that...
He's talking about the tower and how clever its design is.
I couldn't help but mentally hear "Dun, dun, dunnnn!" when the guy was murdered trying to fix the shutters, and I loved the repeated image of the anchor.
I have high hopes for a chapter that includes "the bacon sandwich of regret", lol.

The little bit in italics IS quite good - the bacon sandwich of regret makes me want to keep reading indeed :p
I wonder why people were always hanged in the morning? In the Crucible everyone was hanged at daybreak.. Also, hanged is a weird word. 'Hung' sounds better, but I was taught 'hanged' is what must be used when humans or animals are involved all the time...
What kind of name is Moist? :\
Okay, I have to say this is quite good. I like the wit. And I like authors who can put character into the dialogue so you can tell who's speaking without 'said ___'
Whoa, okay, I'm going to cry. Lines like his about being the balloon ready to be let go simply proves how I'll never become an author D:
Okay actually, I'm surprised he used the word 'dollars'...
rofl - as I work for the Government I resent his welcome to it :p Right man indeed...
AHA they clamped his horse... Okay, I'm hooked, and probably won't comment on every little moment, I'll actually read in a omg-I'm-hooked type of way...

Okay, serious now.
I really like the idea of the dead ships endlessly sailing though.

And okay, wow. That sounds like heat stroke to a seriously high, scary level.
I don't quite understand the line 'you could build most of it on the ground and raise it into place in an hour.' ...Build what?
Wow o-o
