More on religious freedom (and the burqa ban)

I never thought the Australian Constitution could elicit such an emotional response from me, but it does.

Just this Monday I wrote an entry about the contemplated burqa ban in Australia, and cited s 116 from the AC to refute the validity of such legislation. I have been extremely naive to think that you can interpret the crystal clear wording of

As someone who knows next to nothing about the Constitution (or the legal system in general, really), I found this really fascinating (and, as you yourself said, a bit worrying). Thanks for linking me to this. :)

I still can't reconcile very well with the fact that freedom of religion is not absolute, even theoretically. :(
