Brussels adventure!

Feb 02, 2016 22:03

This weekend was the rescheduled KLZ Buffy and Angel fan meet. I confess I wasn't looking forward to it as much as I should have been. The rescheduling took a lot of the gloss off it, the schedule was clash city and the organisors customer service was a bit.......abrupt. I am pleased to say that I was pleasently surprised!

Sounds like a good time except for the not being able to dress up part. That surprises me. A Dutch friend of mine mentioned on FB that the con was fun, but it was no Starfury. He had a great time mostly because of his friends being there. Were there parties or dancing? I'm guessing not. Glad you had fun. Thanks for writing it up.

I believe I know the guy you are talking about :-) He was on our table in a fabulous suit.

And yes, it was no Starfury. No parties, no dancing. Nothing like that at all. As soon as the guests left the M&G, everyone else went too.

Reading this makes me realise I actually had no idea what a con consisted of. I think I'd imagined they were much bigger and less intimate? Also I now have a dumb question, which is: do you think you'll get bored of going? Like, you'll feel that you've heard all the stories, met all the people you want to meet, got all the photos you need eventually? I am slightly puzzled at home these events keep the momentum going when the actual programmes themselves are finished. I realise this outs me as not a fan-type-person, but it's slightly baffling to me...

It depends on the con tbh. The ones that are weekend ones with a few guests tend to be 200-300 people max. The big signing ones like LFCC are thousands of people and hundreds of guests. It depends what you're after :-)

As to whether I'll get bored - I honestly don't know. I meet new people every time, and I have fun (which is the main thing), and it's not so much meeting all the people, it's meeting them again and again. The Torchwood con that I go to is still my fave and I've met those guests multiple times, but each time is wonderful and life-affirming :-)
