I don't know where to begin the story, really. Lol.

This semester I have another practical course in Physical Chemistry, and again I am paired with someone (yoohoo, anyone remember the stupid girl I was partner with during my first Physical Chemistry practical course?).
To my delight, this boy is a real opposite of my previous partner (the girl). He ( Read more... )

I must admit, I have never in my whole life heard of a word called "colligative", but it doesn't strike me as completely wrong either. (It's probably from a latin word [?], which would make it "kolligativ" in the German language, rather than "colligative", so ... -- oh, well; I knew I was right. This guy seems to have no feeling for his mother tongue.)

I thoroughly understand how it must have felt when he scolded you. Whenever someone is correcting my English I feel ... I don't know. It makes me a bit angry at times (hey, ever heard of typos?!), but mostly I get overly insecure and think "I hope I've got at least a few bits right". Which is quite stupid. Most native speakers don't get the grammar and spelling right all the time. My mother didn't believe me that you write "Kuhle" with H, and she frequently puts two full stops at the end of every sentence, claiming that this wouldn't be a big thing. Yup girl. The german word is "kolligativ" and it comes from a Latin word "colligere" meaning to collect.
Your words about him having no feeling for his mother tongue is the sweetest thing I ever heard my whole life >=D (hahahaha)

Exactly. I feel SO insecure. I wrote three pages full of sentences and actually I only made some minor mistakes here and there, max. 7. And he made it look like I wrote the protocol with two languages -__________-

*kicks him*

*hugglez you* =DDDDD Thanks =)

I'm sorry that you and your new partner aren't getting along, but at least he actually does his share of the work, so that's nice. :-) And why would the assistant be so rude?? He's there to help people, not to make them feel bad about themselves.

Hehe, of course, it sounds like you came out of it with a victory of your own, huh? He sounded so much like he was talking down to you from your post, and yet you not only surprised him, it sounds like you impressed him! Maybe next time he'll be a little more gentle, ne?

P.S. Sorry for the late comment, and for the lack of good advice in it...I'm still kinda blah, and my mind's not working as it should. :-(
