I want to wish a happy Thanksgiving to my American LJ friends, and a happy "normal" day to those of us outside the US. I hope you're all having fun!

Aww, you're so cute :) Hey, I've been meaning to ask, are you Italian? I know you live in Italy but you write in such perfect English and have so many American/British based fandoms so I just thought I'd ask :) That's probably a stupid question now that I think about it *lol*

Anyway yes, I'm Italian, and nope, it wasn't a stupid question.
Most All my fandoms are American/British based because, to be honest, I still haven't found something Italian I like. All the books, TV shows and movies here are either soppy love stories or highly pretentious introspective works, and I dislike both.

Thank God there's the Internet, and American TV shows all over the place. XD

Ahh, that's awesome! :) How long have you been learning English? Was it mandatory or optional to take in school? I wish American schools made students take a foreign language to make us more well rounded.

Well, it's been... nine years, I believe. Basically no grammar but lots of vocabulary in elementary school, the basics in junior high, and in-depth grammar and literature in high school. And yes, English is mandatory in every type of school.

Anyway, I agree. While not everyone is keen at learning new languages (like me, tbh: English is the only one I'm good at), I believe that approaching different cultures this way can be very useful. It's a shame a lot of people don't give it a try.
