A bit more dramatic I suppose...

So this one is something that I was thinking about when I was sitting in the car qith my parents, heading out to the mall with them. A song that was played in the catholic church that I go to really got to me. It really made me think abouot how hypocrytical the entire church was. The song went something about a big house where everyone was happy ( Read more... )

The church is a hard one to deal with. When I was just converting out, they drove me crazy-- all that judgment and hypocrisy when they said they loved everyone! It got easier with time: there are an awful lot of nice Christians out there who really do love everyone and are very open-minded, and I'm lucky to know quite a few (and have two for parents). Sometimes focusing on the individual rather than on the whole can really salvage your opinion of the group; it's hard to put up with people who don't agree with us sometimes, but we all have to learn how.

Good luck with the book, too! Violet and Claire is lovely, isn't it?

(Oh, I hope I didn't freak you out posting a comment like this... I wandered in via desperatefans. I just wanted to say that I've been there and I send you my goodwill. Converting to paganism and figuring out how to readjust, was one of the hardest things I've ever done. :)

of course I don't mind! I loved the book, and last night I actually got pretty far in it. I think this may be one that I actually finish! *crosses fingers* Here's hoping!

*hugs her Beebs*

As you know, this is coming from someone who was NEVER EVER EVER Catholic, but you know that you're welcome here whenever you want (and, I can ask Mom if it's okay with her for you to come here when I'm gone so you have a safe place to write/study Paganism/etc).

And from the way you sound, you think I see Luse every day, when I don't. I've seen him once, maybe twice this summer, and that's it.

And if you like Violet and Claire, you may want to read her other books (especially Weetzie Bat and the other books in that series, since I think you'd like her two friends Duck and Dirge).

Your mom is so fricken cool beyond all thought! and Weetzie bat didn't really appeal to me, but I still may read it if I get bored. And at least you've seen him! Sorry, but I saw a bit pissy back then.
