Ah, Maka - I suppose I should say 'happy birthday'.

It's been rather quite of late. If circumstances were different, it would be easier to appreciate. Perhaps the quiet is a reflection of a kind of contentment, although it's curious to note how so many fear the future and what the scientists 'might' do. I didn't know it was Miss Maka's birthday...

I suppose there isn't much to fear with the scientists -- especially since they do revive people. However, there's always the chance they might suddenly stop reviving people. I think the fact that there are no life/death consequences in Discedo might actually encourage risky behavior -- perhaps both heroic and selfish.

I think if one is inclined towards risky behaviour, they'll be so regardless of the situation here. One's personality type rarely changes in such drastic measures.

I suppose. But there are a few ... crazy people here who might do experimental things knowing they won't stay permanently dead.

Although, I was never one to leap headfirst into danger, and I still try to avoid it here. However, knowing that if I do... die... that the scientists will probably bring me 'back to life' or whatever... It's kind of comforting. The thought of dying creeps me out. The thought of being revived? Still can't wrap my mind around that one.

Of course. I'm not saying it wouldn't exaggerate certain traits, but it won't make someone do something that they'd have problems with normally.

Mm, I'm sure it is somewhat comforting. It would be rather unusual if you were comfortable with dying.

Isn't that what makes our stay here both scary and enjoyable?

We can't really try and figure out what they're gonna do. We can just do our best when they do it.

Thank you.

It's because we have that fear that people can become strong.

You're welcome.

There was someone that said that the feeling of fear is what gives us our humanity.

Mm, I agree.

There are a lot of things that I fear. In each battle I've faced, there was always a small fear if I would make it out okay. But the fear only makes me to face them; to prove it wrong. And thus is where courage comes into play.

You must be a strong person, then. To be able to do something despite feeling 'what if'.

I guess some people can't win, no matter what they do.

But I don't think that this city is really that bad overall. I mean.. doesn't every place have its quiet points and its unsettled ones?

Of course not.

It certainly could be worse, I agree. [Tempted to ask how you are but :| Awkwardness prevails for the time being.]

Like I said to Umi, I'd rather not think about how much worse it could be. Though I guess as long as they keep bringing people back, I don't have too many complaints. [oh Naruse, why so awkwardly cute ♥]

It's almost pointless to think about 'ifs' and 'maybes'. Of course, it would be preferable if dying were to be avoided.
