Some of those things irked me too, when seeing the movie. But, as I have only watched it once, and am easily impressed with pretty scenery and cool effects when watching a movie for the first time, I didn't mind that much and enjoyed myself (although I did complain about some missing scenes a little, I think. And I fell off my seat in the break).
I really need to contradict you on Jurassic Park being good movie adaptations of the books, because they are not. They completely lack the scientific explanations and...*rambles on*

Maybe that's why I like it better than the book. The whole byology/mathematic thing had me saying "huh?" half of the time :P

My humanist brain doesn't handle that well.

Love your review. I mean, who couldn't blame you for not liking the movie? (Er, you still like how it was directed, right . . ? Maybe not.)

And by Dumbledore I think you mean playfulness? Hmm...

*slaps forehead* Yes, playfulness is what I meant.

And about directing... Well, yeah, it was good. At least it had a less childish air around it.

Whee! I finally get to read your rant! :P

First off, overall I agree with you. The difference is I was willing to forgive these flaws and enjoy the film as an independent entity and you weren't. Not a bad thing either way, just a difference.

I don't agree about Dumbledore, as I see it merely as two different portrayals and feel it unfair to compare them. Plus Michael Gambon!Dumbledore was fed lines that Richard Harris!Dumbledore was never fed. What was that crap about dreams and stars in PoA? Richard Harris would never have uttered that bullshit er, stuff ( ... )

Re Dumbledore: Yeah, it wasn't my intention to compare them really, I just wanted to say that Harris had managed to get that air of wisdom, yet wackiness I imagine in Dumbledore. And I'm aware, like I said, that it's the script fault... I never thought I would see a corny! Dumbledore =D ( ... )
