I love Supernatural, but I have a hard time reccing it to people because it hurt so fucking much.  And it's weird, because Sherlock hurts too, but Supernatural just has a special kind of hurt.  My IRL friend texted me on Saturday when I was recovering from Supernatural FEELS and I warned her I was in a highly emotional state because of SPN

idk but wouldn't you side-eye someone who talked and talked about a show you'd never seen and then told you not to watch it? not side-eye like judge, but side-eye from confusion and bizarreness.

because -- it's just weird to have someone gab on about a show almost no one watches and have them explain how said show has affected them IRL to the point where they work 6 days a week. hard not be at least a little bit curious. at least if she watches it and shares in the pain maybe she'll get why you're so invested and maybe not think it's disproportionate/odd to be so emotional over something that happened in tv land.

I know. I don't understand it myself. I recommended Sherlock and Game of Thrones (she's reading the books, but hasn't scene the show), but when she's like "and maybe Supernatural" I'm just like "PAIN LOTS OF PAIN OH GOD BE CAREFUL OH NO"

It... doesn't make a lot of sense...

But it is none the less how I feel...

anyway, you don't have to explain it to me. i totally understand. SPN is the kind of show that's like...hmm...like the raw, vulnerable side to a lot of people. which is why it tends to lend itself to wank/button pushing since people seem to identify a lot with a character and then take an attack on that character as an ad hominem or something.

it's what makes for a fervent devoted fanbase tbh

I always feel guilty for dragging people into SPN too! Like I accidently got my old choir teacher to watch it JUST by posting obsessively on FB about it. Thankfully a lot of other people don't get as emotionally invested in show like we do.
But if they do it's kinda fun for us, cause new feels friend :)
I think if you give them a fair warning of possible feels then we're legally covered ;)

Ha! I usually don't have any trouble reccing it because, well, I'm always looking for more people who I can rant and rave at about it and actually have them understand me.

But yeah, around mid-season-7 I spent some time answering every "Maybe I should watch it?" with "NO. SAVE YOURSELF."

Yeah, I'm tempted to disown season 7 entirely and just assume that Dean and Cas were sucked into Purgatory at the end of 7x01.
