thanks <3 he was one of the sweetest kitties ever...even the vet was upset when I called and told her, and she only got to see him for about an hour or so each day he was with them.
I still have his father and uncle, so I'm gonna try and make sure the same thing doesn't happen to them, and I'm seriously considering starting a complaint against the cat food makers. this has happened to WAY too many people >.<
Woops re: she, I remembered as I was typing but clearly forgot to go back and fix that.
And he does look like a sweety. I hope the others do better, then! Have you considered home-made food? It's a bit drastic, but it might help if you're worried, so long as you're careful about it. I know I'm paranoid about pet food at this point, but thankfully haven't had any problems with it. :crosses fingers:
lol, most people think he's a she cause of the name anyway. *shrug* plus, he's really pretty XD
they'll be fine without homemade food...just no more indoor pet formula.
apparently, the stuff they put in there is dangerous to male cats. it kinda gives them kidney stones, and because they have such narrow urethra's, if they get a blockage like that, it starts backing up until either the kidneys fail or the bladder ruptures.
*sighs* I've started my other two on special food just for neutered male cats. just to be safe:\
But...indoor kitty food did this!??! (I feed "all life stages" food because, damnit, the older ones eat the kitten chow anyway, and the kittens are left with the adult food. Heh)
when the vet told me about it being catfood related, I was like ".....no way....the other two eat it just fine, and they're not sick..."
I figured it was just a way to get more money. I"m used to vets that would do that. Then when I got home, I started looking up info, and there are soooo many people that have had the same problem. half of them had to have their pets put down cause of how expensive the vet visits were.
I understand WHY the cat food people don't put warnings on the stuff...they're worried it would bring down sales and lose them money, but really, which is worse? bringing down sales a lil, or getting the shit sued out of you for not warning people?
I don't want money from them, it won't do me any good, really, but I want to make sure other cat owners don't have this problem. *sighs*
Hun, I would sue, even if its not about the money. Sue them for the requirement TO put the warning on the food. It could save some many cats in the future.
that's what I'm considering...at the very least, I want to get news people looking into it. Dunno how to go about it yet, so I have to check into it a bit first:S
