And so, Rina and Satoshi continued with their lives without holding each other back. Although this lack of effort in saving their relationship could seem nonchalant, it was quite the contrary. Their love was based on freedom and faith; they knew that their bond was strong enough to not have to constantly prove it. Perhaps they dated other people here and there, but no one quite grabbed at their hearts because Ohno’s and Rina’s hearts were already given to each other. For now, it was important that they were able to put all their energy into building themselves and their futures - Rina with her music, and Satoshi with Arashi. Wherever life took them, it would be for the best, whether they stayed apart or somehow ended up together again.
A few years passed following the same fast track. Arashi’s success steadily increased. Each new variety show they produced was met with high ratings; everyone wanted to be a guest on their programs because they were guaranteed to instantly gain more attention. The individual members excelled in their own areas of specialty. Sho became one of GQ’s Men of the Year after Matsujun, Ohno started pursuing his artwork again, and Nino ventured into more challenging movie roles. Songs broke records, dramas won awards. Even the nation’s tourism industry recognized them as Japan’s ambassadors. Arashi gained even more popularity worldwide and was the most successful Johnny’s group to date, past and present.
Meanwhile, Rina graduated from Julliard with flying colors and began living on her own. Numerous American music production companies immediately vied for her to join their staff. In fact, her first proposal made to J-Storm right before she returned to New York had been accepted; it later became the catchy Arashi song “Super Fresh.” For the moment, she chose to do random commission works, from commercials to TV programs, to diversify her portfolio. Surprisingly, her ToGeiDa fame hadn’t quite died down. Offers from Japanese media came every now and then, requesting an interview.
Various circumstances would work in their favor to coax their paths together once again. One highly anticipated event would concretely reunite Rina and Satoshi, however: Sakurai Sho was getting married.
