“Watch it or I'll demote you down to Bug One Thousand and Twenty-three.”
Lol!
“So's your mum.”
What a quintessentially Spike response- careless and reckless and great.
“The couch is occupied! Get your own couch!”
I love how genuine Buffy's reaction is, how she quips about not worshipping men and segues immediately into getting blood for him as though he's a perfectly normal friend to have around. The last line is awesome! Lots of sequel potential here for Buffy and Spike's late-night living room sleepovers...

Your story made my day! Your Spike is perfectly imperfect here.
“Plus the sycophantic worship was creepy.”
“Yeah.” He sighed. “I'll miss that the most.”
Heeee! Totally in character for Spike - to admit it to Dawn.

So was this your "Dawn invites Spike in" fic? I did like Buffy's reaction to his appearance... though I'm a bit disappointed Spike didn't defeat Bug Three. Now I'm imaginining the bugs responding to hormonal and pheremonal cues such that occasionally one of them turns into a female and challenges the current Queen for dominance, winner takes the Hive.

Haha, in a way it totally is the "Dawn invites Spike in" fic just because I wanted it to be about them. As for winning the bug fight, Spike survived, didn't he? I'd say he held his own against the hive.
