With the overwhelming negativity on LJ, a pro-comics territory actually sounds refreshing. Though I may not be able to hold back during the Twilight arc!
No worries, I'm planning on bringing my snark to the party, too. Or will that be too embarrassing? Like if we're wearing the same dress to the red carpet. :D
Not at the site there, no. I can ~assist~ you there.
We're diving into the issues though with an eye on how it all adds up, so there's spoilers for the whole season. It'd be like a person writing meta about "Lessons" and noting how it foreshadows "Chosen". So actually that might be jarring.
But! *raises finger* The cool thing about it is that you could probably read all the issues in one go, then come to join in on the discussion. That way you won't be spoiled, but you'll still have discussion-y goodness. And the upside to this is that it's pro-comics so there won't be a lot of wank or OMGWTF reactions (which I've experienced firsthand when I was reading and totally contributed to, but I'm mostly over it now).
So was that too much info? I have lots of ~thoughts~ about Season 8 and fandom, so I might have just talked too much here.
Okay. I have a question for you. So, I've been thinking about tackling the comics. But--I've never read comics before. So, tell me about the format. Do I have to buy each issue separately? Or is there some sort of bound book set that includes all the issues?
Also--I hate hardback books. I know, I'm a freak. But I do. So if my only option is between hardbacks and individual issues, I'll take individual issues. But I want to make an informed decision. Not order something off amazon, and then be disappointed.
And, you're going to think I'm insane for asking this, but what kind of paper quality are we dealing with? Are pages of issues glossy 4 color, or are they closer to newsprint?
I need logistics information! Can paper type be considered logistics? It should be. Your expertise is much appreciated.
Okay! Comics are released in individual issues of 40 pages that includes ad pages. The paper quality for Season 8 is good, I'd say, which a hint of gloss to it but it's not super glossy. They're smooth in texture, too. I'm not sure what "glossy 4" is exactly haha, but it's not like newsprint

Haha, word of warning, you're entering an extremely pro-comix territory, though. :D

Are the issues themselves posted at the site?

Thank you for the ~assist~, and I like the idea of coming in once I have seen to get some context.
