Meet the Parents (for dontthinkabout)

Once they had traveled safely back to Paris, Ari had contacted her parents and scheduled a visit for a couple weeks later. It would not only make her family happy, but it would also give some extra time for things to cool down surrounding Arthur's last job gone wrong.

However, now that their plane was taxiing to the arrival gate at Logan airport she was starting to feel nervous. )

“Yes,” he replied before leaning over to kiss her temple in an attempt to alleviate her anxiety. It was clear she was nervous, probably more nervous than he was.

When the plane got to the gate and the seatbelt sign turned off, Arthur unbuckled his seatbelt and stood up, getting their carry-on from overhead.

She took a deep breath and put her game face on, getting up and shouldering her messenger bag.

"I told my parents not to bring out the cavalry to pick us up, but I can't promise that the whole family won't be in tow anyway," she said. "Considering I also told them that we could get a connecting flight to Barnstable or rent a car to drive ourselves down instead, and needless to say they didn't exactly listen to me on that either."

Arthur smiled and went to stand behind her in the aisle as everyone waited for the door to open. “Don’t worry about it, Ariadne. They’re your family. Of course they’d do this for you.” He placed a comforting hand on his shoulder as everyone started walking out.

She placed her hand over his and gave it a squeeze before she followed behind the pack and led them off the plane and into the terminal. Once they were somewhere they could walk side by side she reached for the hand that wasn't rolling their carry on as they followed the signs to the baggage claim.
